Do these descriptions reflect how they perceived their God as a result of these events? Or do they belong to ancient disparate tribal traditions brought together by a united Israel? Do they have temple or palace origins? I invite you to share this journey with me as a 'literary archaeologist' as I peel away the many layers of the narrative and reveal not only the real purpose of these Ark descriptions, but discover who the authors were, when they were written, and why.
