This heartwarming and tummy-tickling children’s story is an educational learning experience about a baby tiger cat that is born with a disability. It took the compassionate heart of an unlikely friendship of a parrot, Señor Rico, to help Señor Tiger overcome his challenges. This story teaches children the importance of caring, sharing, overcoming bullying, and helping those who do not know how to help themselves. The children are also introduced to catchy Spanish phrases.
“Wow! I am simply amazed by this awesome book! Rico is such an amazing character, and all the other characters are so entertaining. This book has my kids and myself completely engaged and looking forward to the next page. I brought Ava, my ten-year-old, to the Wildlife Reserve in Manuel Antonio, and she believes that Rico lives there!”

Autoren-Porträt von Richard Alvarez, Diana Alvarez
Richard and Diana Alvarez have been married 35 years and have four amazing children. Richard worked for 35 years in education and has a master’s degree in administration. Right out of college he started out as a teacher, was a principal for many years, and is now retired as a former Assistant Superintendent of public education. Diana has worked in education for 25 years. She started out as a teacher’s aide. With a bachelor’s in social sciences and a master’s degree in Special Education, she is currently a dual-credentialed teacher in General Education and Special Education. She has been a Special Education teacher for 14 years. They have also had the privilege of watching their four children grow, achieve their Masters (two have doctorates), marry, and have children. All the men are ministers, two are pastors. There are seven teachers in the family. Two are published authors. One of their children was born with a speed impediment. He had difficulty pronouncing certain sounds. Richard would create little stories and songs to help their son with speech. The Coco Loco Tiger of the Mountain was originated by Rick and enhanced by Diana.
While Diana teaches, Richard is a full-time pastor, a consultant for a charter school, and works on their 10-acre date ranch as a date farmer. They love living on a ranch. In their leisure, Richard loves to fish and hunt. Diana loves to read, write stories and poems, sew for her small business, sing, and paint. They plan to soon publish additional children’s stories.
