Theatrical Biography of the writer: David Louis Whitehead. Professor David Louis Whitehead is a screenwriter, Executive Producer, Playwright, Theatrical Director, and Actor. An example of one of the projects on the submission is a project adapted from musical play “My Aretha: the life of Aretha Franklin and Rev. C. L. Franklin”, which gain national attention. From the play “My Aretha”, he wrote the screenplay “Aretha” for motion picture. In addition, to his successful writing career, David has written several other musical plays and screenplays, some are featured in this exciting book entitled “Musicals On the Stars”: “A Night With Anita Baker”, “Phyllis Hyman Sophisticated”, “Erykah Badu in Paris with Momma Voodoo” and “The Big Bad Wolf-The Mike Tyson Story”. He once told, the Honorable Congressman John Conyers, “John, you know, I wrote the hell out of “My Aretha”. Congressman Conyers responded, “I know”, as Black Entertainment Television crew filmed Professor Whitehead and Mr. Congress, walking on the first floor hallway of Rayburn Congressional building.
Professor Whitehead over the years has worked on the musical play “My Aretha” for film entitled “Aretha”, as well as “Erykah Badu in Paris with Momma Voodoo” and “The Big Bad Wolf”. These and other theatrical projects created by David, will add a little flavor, on the Hollywood scene, with great excitement, passion and drama. In addition, his work on Michael Jackson entitled “Michael Jackson and The Ghost of Ben”, adding “a dramatic take on the like of the King of Pop”, according to the Washington City Paper’s review in 2003-04. Another work entitled “The Fight-Prince versus Michael Jackson” will be a delight; and his play “God vs. Satan”, “Sherman General Sherman” and many, many more, including works on the late great Mahalia Jackson: “Mahalia Jackson, A Child of God” and “Mahalia Jackson Project Musical, will be highlighted in America’s cinemas and stages”.
