It is early 1803, and the uneasy peace between France and Britain still holds. But there is action and intrigue along the coast of Sussex, where private fights and family feuds prove just as ferocious as any wartime conflict.
In a distinct change from his Fighting Sail stories, Bond tells a sensitive and subtle tale of friendship torn apart by the enduring battle between free traders and the Treasury.
