The worst thing about waking up on a school morning was remembering what I hated about school mornings... I didnt want to go to school. I didnt want to face up to those girls.
Evie is a young girl who is refusing to go to school because she is being bullied by several girls. When Evies mother wins free tickets to a circus performance, she hopes that maybe this time she will be able to bring joy and fun back to Evies life. Maybe this joy will help Evie overcome her fear of the bullies and so see herself in a new light, not the way others try to impose on her.

Autoren-Porträt von Lisa Dowse
Lisa Dowse has worked as a primary and secondary teacher in Australia. She taught as a generalist primary teacher and later taught French to primary students. Lisa was named Victorian French Teacher of the Year in 2000. Lisa has obtained a Master’s Degree in Education. Her research demonstrated the benefits for students through learning a language. From 2006- 2012 Lisa worked in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development as a Senior Project Officer supporting teachers and principals to enrich languages programs at their schools. Lisa’s heart for those at risk and her journey of faith led her to develop the idea of the Gypsy Elephant into a story aimed at helping others. She hopes this story will inspire those feeling undermined by others to see themselves in a new light and to triumph over their circumstances. The Gypsy Elephant is Lisa’s first book.
