A storm of prejudice and abuse breaks around her when a first-year student is sexually molested during orientation week. Later, a female student involved in a turbulent relationship is murdered. Although embroiled in her own youthful emotional turmoil, Moja becomes a fighter against the patriarchy that had reigned for generations. Her rise to the presidency of the Students Representative Council at her university gives her the power to build a pedestal of hope for young women to stand on. She did this by working to dismantle the fallacy upon which the idea of male dominance had always rested.
Hosia Malekane writes out of a deep concern for the millions of young women who are subjected to gender-based prejudice, violence, sexual assault, and male duplicity. 'As a man,' this author declares, 'I must voice my concern about the state of gender relations in our country. Misogyny has brought untold grief to our women.'
This book is in remembrance of the 2930 women who were murdered in our country in the year ending 2018. In August of the same year 30 women were murdered by their partners.
