Produktinformationen zu „The Last of the Storytellers (ePub)“
'The Last of the Storytellers' explores the idea of conformity versus individual thought and the idea that history exists only when it is written or passed down as a story. It can be erased. Powerful people behind the scenes have gathered ninety percent of the world's population to form the Collective. This is a virtual world created by the melding of all the people's minds, requiring conformity to a standard way of thinking, for the 'good' of all the inhabitants. The leader of the Collective is called the Controller. Life is good in the Collective, all inhabitants are treated fairly and equally, so long as the rules are followed. Individualism is not tolerated.
But there is a problem. The few people that do not live within the Collective have discovered that it exists. To maintain control, the people in each world must not know that the other exists. The mission of young Kim Schneider is to destroy all written words regarding the Collective and to find the last remaining history book. In her search, Kim will meet the last storyteller, witness a new world, and have freedom to think for herself. As she questions the mission, dark and powerful people will lay in wait against her.

Autoren-Porträt von Brinton Farrand
Brinton Farrand grew up in Homeplace, Indiana. He attended Carmel High School and Purdue University. His main interests from childhood through college were wrestling and art. After completing his wrestling career at Purdue, he spent the next thirty-two years teaching art and coaching. He evolved over that time from a wrestling coach into an artist. He believes an artist is either ahead of or outside of society, observing people from a unique perspective. He watched the educational system evolve from a community based on the individual students to a system based on data and statistics. Farrand's art classes were free from the control and confinement of this data driven school life. Retired now, he spends every day in his studio drawing and painting. As he pursued variety and creativity, the idea of writing and illustrating a book blossomed. He published his first short story 'The Test Takers' in 2011. 'The Last of the Storytellers' expands on the ideas and characters first met in the short story.
