The Man Who Sold Sand in the Desert tells the story of Amir, a renowned salesman in ancient Aleppo who earned the ire of powerful enemies. Threatened by his success and emerging influence, King Odaenathus of Palmyra coerced him into accepting a wager.
"Prove your greatness by selling sand in the desert," challenged the King. "If you succeed, I shall bequeath you the seven crowns of Palmyra. But if you fail, all your emproriums shall be mine."
Not wanting to risk the ire of the King, and taint his reputation, Amir accepted the wager.
In the midst of this conflict, he commissioned his apprentice, named Hakim, to write and compile his lessons on salesmanship. In the end, Amir performs an epic feat and reveals a secret to free himself from a harrowing past.
Upon the death of Amir, Hakim discloses his testament containing principles on the art of selling, hoping to inspire future generations of salespeople, merhcants, vendors and traders.
A professional nomad in the world wide web, he finds fulfillment in helping clients achieve their goals.
