In an expose of a real life spy operation, the author tells the cerebral aspects of spy work. After making new "friends", he was told that UBS was laundering money and keeping two sets of books. Told to report it, he got setup to go to jail, fired, blacklisted; nearly killed and sent to his hometown in the USA broke. When a $200,000 a year job offer didn't work, they doubled the last offer. The risks were too much and Michael turned down "a job he can't refuse." So he got sent home to California. This is the Michael character that Fox Television Studios used to create Burn Notice.
