I put the kickstand down in front of the old brick entrance and strolled to the front steps, which were in disrepair, to sit as if I owned the place, looking out across the street where the houses on all sides stood straight and prominent, with more beauty than functionality, I was certain. I quit my thoughts of Luke in exchange for the moment, needing to visualize this house on canvas.
