The landmarks used are the British Pharmacopoeia, the British Pharmaceutical Codex published in September 1934, and clinical records selected from the literature.
Comprised of two chapters, this book begins with an introduction to endocrine therapy, focusing on the need for clinicians to properly assess the clinical potency of the remedies they use based on considerations such as whether they clearly recognize in their patient a hormonic lack, or whether the preparation is smoothly active when administered by the route they propose. The second chapter deals with various endocrine preparations, including commercial preparations of thyroid; ovarian and pituitary hormones; stomach; pancreas; bone marrow; hemoglobin; and pineal, mammary, lymphatic, and prostate glands.
This monograph is intended for clinicians interested in the therapeutic uses of enzymes and hormones.
