Author D.L. Merkle, Ph.D. created The Story of Mary the Caterpillar one night - and surprisingly wound up telling it for at least 730 days straight! As a result of her daughter/co-author's participation in the story and demand for a consistent recital, The Story of Mary the Caterpillar was documented. This encouraging story is as pertinent now as it was when the co-author was quite small. Dr. Merkle is a biochemist, business owner, inventor and author who resides in Fort Worth TX.
Co-author Sophie W. Merkle-Claytor, a teenager when Mary was published, was not quite two when Mary came into being. Sophie's contributions to the tale allowed The Story of Mary the Caterpillar to develop into a book. Sophie enjoys art, golf, tap dancing, reading and running, and, like Mary The Caterpillar, has big dreams and high hopes.
Illustrator Wendy Bopst-Streif, M.A. is an educator and counselor whose life-long goals have focused on teaching and counseling Pre-K and elementary students. Ms. Bopst-Streif uses creative, enjoyable and effective methods which incorporate art to enhance childrens learning and problem solving. Her artistic talents resulted in the whimsical world in which Mary the Caterpillar experiences her exciting life. Ms. Bopst-Streif lives in Jacksonville, FL with her spouse, many children, dog, cat, fish and art supplies.
