Autoren-Porträt von Isamu Mochizuki
Born in 1948, in Shizuoka Prefecture. In 1973, at the age of 25, he moved to London. From there, he travelled many countries in Europe, joined a Kibbutz in Israel, and travelled the Sinai Peninsula. He then travelled by land through Greece, the Middle East, Turkey, Afghanistan, Nepal and India where he contracted acute hepatitis and had to return back toJapan.
In 1979 he again went to London. The following year he travelled by land to Africa where he lived rough and hitch-hiked for seven months through various countries. During his time there he also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and traversed the Sahara desert. While doing so he started to understand intuition and let it guide him in his daily life.
In 1980, he started learning Shorinji Kempo, Ki therapy and Yoga by himself, which opened the world of Ki up to him. In 1986, while in Africa, he discovered that he had the power to heal other people. In 1987, he went to India to undertake training, and was initiated into the secrets of Yoga in the Himalayan mountains from a guru. He visited Sai Baba’s ashram and many Yoga practises all over India.
In 1988, he deepened his understanding of Ki with the late founder of ‘Wado,’ Soho Hayakawa in Kanazawa. After this he set up a Yoga class and Ki-therapy clinic in London which he continues to this present day.
As an author, he has written in Japanese a travelogue of his time in the Sinai Peninsula called ‘Seinen to Sabaku’ (transl: ‘The Youth and the Desert,’ Kodansha Service centre, 2002), a collection of poems entitled, ‘Hokumei’ (transl: ‘Northern Providence’) (Kadokawa Shoten, 2003), Inochi no Chikara (‘The Power of Life,’ Heibonsha, 2004), and a conversation with the writer Hiroyuki Itsuki entitled ‘Ki no Hakken’ (transl: ‘Discovering Ki,’ Heibonsha, 2004).
His book ‘Inochi no Chikara’ was translated into English and is published by Author House with the title ‘The Power of Life.’
