Abstract
The target of this work, entitled "Unrealistic Realism?-Realism being put to test", was to reveal how Institutionalism, Constructivism, Liberalism and Feminism work off the realistic weak points. Therefore were shown the core assumptions of classical Realism as well as Neorealism, which are that unitary, rational nation states are the key actors, that seek to maximize power and security in an anarchic order. States live in a selfhelpsystem where cooperation is hard to achieve. These core assumptions then were put into position to Institutionalism, Constructivism and Liberalism. The result was that in opposition to Realism Institutionalism emphasizes the role of international institutions by breaking through the obstacles of cooperation. Constructivism disclaims that self-help logically or causally follows from anarchy. Instead identity and interest formation of states is important. Liberalism shows the importance of domestic decision-making processes, especially within democracies, which have impacts on foreign policy actions. Finally, a feminist perspective requires more female insights into International Relations.
