Produktinformationen zu „Well in Time (ePub)“
A powerful locket leads a writer on an epic, metaphysical journey in this story of love and adventure from the author of Fiesta of Smoke.
Through a series of telescoping stories, Well in Time plunges back from the present day through medieval Europe to ancient Egypt in quest of the origins of an object of magical power.
Novelist Calypso Searcy is gifted an ancient golden locket that confers the ability to know the future through dreams. It opens intriguing vistas into history, but while writing her account of the locket's past, disaster strikes in the present. Rancho Cielo, the ranch she and her lover Javier Carteña have created with their own hands in Mexico's Copper Canyon, comes under attack by a drug cartel.
Leaving Javier to defend the ranch with his army of hands, Calypso embarks with her friend Hill on a wild escape that takes them through remote and treacherous territory and delivers them into the hands of a mysterious group, the Ghosts, who may be more dangerous than the cartel. As the stories of the locket and of Calypso's escape weave together, parallels appear that cause her to question who she really is, and what the real meaning of her life might be . . .
Praise for Fiesta of Smoke
"Extraordinary. . . . Echoes the quiet grace of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera, matched by passages that have the psychotic edginess of Breaking Bad." -Alexander Stuart, author of The War Zone
"Still has captured fifty years of the history of Mexico in vivid color. . . . A moving portrayal of the disparate cultures and complexity of a turbulent, beautiful country." -M. E. Hirsh, author of Kabul

Autoren-Porträt von Suzan Still
Suzan Still holds a masters in art and writing and a doctorate in depth psychology. A retired university art professor, she also taught creative writing in a men's prison, where she became increasingly concerned with issues of social disenfranchisement¿as readers of Commune of Women will discover. She continues to explore this theme in Fiesta of Smoke and in her latest novel, Well In Time. Fiesta of Smoke focuses on the coming revolution in Mexico, where she has traveled for over thirty years, while the sequel, Well In Time, explores the ravages of drug cartel violence there. As a writer, she favors the novel form but also has published poetry and nonfiction and is an avid journal-keeper. Also, she has led dream groups for over thirty years¿her fascination with dreams will be evident to readers of all her works. As an artist, she is delighted to introduce her artwork to the world as the cover image for Commune of Women. Her interests include painting and collage, sculpting in marble and bronze, photography, foreign travel, gardening, cooking, antiques and all things French. Suzan lives in the foothills of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains on land that her family pioneered, with her husband and an assortment of rescued fur children, who take her for her daily walk in the woods.
