In this volume, she has researched Lincoln’s life in New Salem, Illinois, Springfield, Illinois and Washington, D.C. Betty Kay was born and raised in Cicero, Illinois, where she attended Morton East High School. After college at Iowa State University and University of Iowa, she taught first grade in the Springfield Public Schools and added a Master’s Degree at the University of Illinois. She is now happily retired in Jacksonville, Illinois with her husband, John. Being a grandmother is the best thing that has ever happened to her!
