Produktinformationen zu „Working Brain and Memory (ePub)“
EEG oscillations, ultraslow oscillations, and neurotransmitters are quasi-invariant building blocks in brain-body-mind function and also during the evolution of species. Working Brain and Memory: In Search of the Macro-Engram amalgamates results from work on the brain, vegetative system, species evolution, the maturing brain, dynamic memory, emotional processes, and cognitive impairment in neuropsychiatric disorders, comparatively evaluating them within the framework of brain oscillations and neurotransmitters. In this book, Professor Başar demonstrates how to quantify the manifestation of human memory with electrophysiological metrics that combine event-related oscillations, spatial connectivity, and inter-trial coherence. This allows one to examine memory manifestations to different activations using the so-called "CLAIR Diagrams", the first extended quantification of EEG strategy to show the differentiation of phyletic, episodic, semantic and working memories. These analyzes are performed in healthy control subjects and in cognitive impairment of Alzheimer's and Bipolar Disorders. A holistic approach also links the brain to the cardiovascular system and overall myogenic coordination of the vegetative system. Describes the concept of the "Macro-Engram" with a quantitative step-by-step manifestation of methods to search for micro activations of memory, from sensory memory to episodic-memory Features a unique reach EEG-strategy to search for the "Memory Engram" Discusses experimental data from approximately 300 control subjects and subjects with cognitive deficits Includes several results from animal experiments performed in the same laboratory, bringing forward a unique integrative aspect
