James Blanchard Cisneros was born in Geneva, Switzerland. He grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and obtained his B.S. and MBA degrees in the United States. James states "My grandfather served in WWII as a colonel in the United States Marines, my father was a Vietnam Army veteran. After the Vietnam experience, my father wanted to break the cycle and protect us from a future draft. So he arranged for my brother and myself to be born in Geneva, Switzerland (a neutral nation), so that we could choose to refrain from the next conflict if that was our choice."

James has been President of Cisneros Capital Group since January 2000. He is an art aficionado and owns Gomez Mulet Gallery in Miami, Florida. James is a board member of the Cisneros Children Foundation (CCF), a foundation which provides financial and technical assistance to children's organizations in the United States and Latin America. James has served as Director of Outreach for Miami's StandUp for Kids, a nationally acclaimed volunteer organization committed to the rescue of homeless and street kids. James has a Bachelor of Arts from Regis University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.
