Mantova (Wall Calendar 2019 DIN A3 Landscape)

Mantova is a naturally fortified city, surrounded by a moat formed by two lakes almost always hidden in mist. These lakes are crossed by the Ponte Legnano ( Legnano Bridge). The visitor entering the city by this bridge, through the haze, spots first the dramatic silhouettes of old towers, domes and churches.
Mantova is a city with no long lists of museums and points of interest so one does not see crowds of tourists wandering around or ubiquitous tourist shops.
Nevertheless, small jewels are scattered in the city, not far from each other, like the very well- known Rotonda di San Lorenzo, built in the 11th century and inspired by the Holy Sepulchre Church in Jerusalem. The Teatro Bibiena, Bibiena Theater, of roccoco architecture, where Mozart once performed at the age of 13. The Piazza Sordello, Sordello Square, with the Palazzo Ducale, Duke's palace, once the main residence of the Gonzaga family, and the Duomo, Cathedral.
Of special interest is also the Palazzo Te, which has probably the best Renaissance frescos still in existence today.
