The Orient hornbills are very widespread in the southern and southeastern Asia. They prefer to live in tropical and subtropical forests with really large old trees, which they so desperately need to brood. In a cave of such a tree, the hen lays two or three eggs. The female leaves her home no longer before the young birds are almost fledged. During this time the male takes care of the family alone. It takes all kinds of figs and other fruits, insects, small reptiles and frogs from the forest. Are the juveniles have fledged, they continue to be supplied by both parents with food.
