The coat of the rhesus monkey is brown or olive color , the hairless face is pink or reddish in color . Its tail is approximately 21 to 23 centimeters in length medium compared to other species of macaques . Males with an average of 53 centimeters body length and 7.7 kg weight significantly larger and heavier than females , reaching 47 cm body length and an average of 5.3 kgThe name comes from Rhesus Rhesos , a Thracian king in Greek mythology who fought in the Trojan war on the side of Troy. The name has according to his name leader , Jean Baptiste Audebert (1759-1800) , a French naturalist and painter, no deeper meaning.
