Stephen Calloway is Curator in the Word & Image Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum. In addition, he divides his time between research for his books, writing for a wide range of magazines, lecturing and designing. He is also called upon as a consultant for films and for the decoration of historic interiors, and is a frequent contributor to television and radio programmes on the subject of taste, collecting and fashion. His publications include Twentieth-Century Decoration; The Elements of Style; Baroque Baroque: the Culture of Excess and The Exquisite Life of Oscar Wilde. He is Co-Curator for the 'Cult of Beauty: The Aesthetic Movement in Britain 1860-1900' exhibition.
