Nanotechnology in Human Health: Current Research and Future Trends details the various challenges faced in human healthcare settings and how nanotechnology can be used to target and improve outcomes. The book describes the application of nanoparticles in the diagnosis of human diseases, including metabolic diseases, cancer, bacterial infection, organ degeneration and the various targeted, nano-based treatments available. Several chapters look at how microbial biofilms - a key clinical concern - can be mitigated using nanomaterials and nanotechnology. In addition, the book covers how different nanoparticle types can be utilized as therapeutic agents.
This book combines materials science concepts and techniques with clinical insights and understanding to provide an interdisciplinary reference for materials scientists, microbiologists, biomedical engineers and clinicians with an interest in nanotechnology.

Autoren-Porträt
Dr. Mukesh Kumar Yadav, is working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, at Mizoram University, India. He has more than 12 years of research experience in the field of microbiology in general and microbial biofilms, host-pathogen interaction and entophytes in particular. Dr. Yadav's research is focused on microbial biofilms in clinical settings. He is particularly interested in microbial biofilms related to pathogenesis and in the identification of novel pathways for the development of new antimicrobial/antibiofilm compounds. The host-response during single species or multi-species colonization in vivo is also an important part of his study. Using in vitro biofilm models and in vivo colonization models, his group have identified a number of natural and synthetic compounds that are effective in controlling bacterial growth in planktonic bacteria as well as under biofilm state. Dr. Yadav has completed four major research projects on microbial biofilms, and has published more than 45 research articles.Prof. Jae Jun Song is a Professor at Korea University College of medicine Seoul, South Korea. Prof. Song is clinical professional and has more than 15 years of research experience. He has published more than 80 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 3920 citations and h-index 32. He has completed many research grants related to microbial biofilms. Prof. Song laboratory is involved in the study the structure of biofilms, effects of antibiotics and discovery of new compounds to control bacterial biofilm, host pathogen interaction, multi-species biofilms, biofilm role in otitis media. Using both in vitro and in vivo rat and mouse model Prof. Song research team is try to gain more depth knowledge of biofilms made by species of genera Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and Pseudomonas.
