Melvin Burgess, geboren 1954 in London, aufgewachsen in Surrey und Sussex. Tätig als Journalist, bevor er begann, Jugendbücher zu veröffentlichen. Ausgezeichnet u. a. mit dem Guardian Fiction Award und der Carnegie Medal. Der Autor lebt mit seiner Familie in Manchester.
