Klappentext zu „MRI of the Lung “
During the past decade significant developments have been achieved in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), enabling MRI to enter the clinical arena of chest imaging. Standard protocols can now be implemented on up-to-date scanners, allowing MRI to be used as a first-line imaging modality for various lung diseases, including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension and even lung cancer. The diagnostic benefits stem from the ability of MRI to visualize changes in lung structure while simultaneously imaging different aspects of lung function, such as perfusion, respiratory motion, ventilation and gas exchange. On this basis, novel quantitative surrogates for lung function can be obtained. This book provides a comprehensive overview of how to use MRI for imaging of lung disease. Special emphasis is placed on benign diseases requiring regular monitoring, given that it is patients with these diseases who derive the greatest benefit from the avoidance of ionizing radiation.

Rezension zu „MRI of the Lung “
From the reviews:"The application of MRI in the evaluation of chest related pathology is the subject of this book ... . It is intended for radiologists who have a special interest in chest pathology and have significant MRI knowledge with an added interest in research. ... Radiology and pulmonology residents in fellowships interested in chest pathology and MRI investigation may find this book interesting and helpful in initiating research projects. ... this book is a very useful tool for future and current researchers." (Francine Belleville, Doody's Review Service, February, 2009)"The editor of 'MRI of the lung' prefaces this book by stating that Lung MRI used to be something of a black hole. ... This book has done a great job in dispelling all previously held misconceptions I had about lung MRI and brings the technique sharply into focus. ... In conclusion, the black hole has been more that adequately filled by this book, which is a must for anyone in the field." (Gary Liney, RAD Magazine, October, 2009)"In this fascinating book, the authors discuss and describe the possible contribution of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to the field of lung diagnostic radiology. ... Throughout the book one will find protocols to utilize and very impressive images of the obtained results. ... highly recommendable to radiologists (certified and in training), pneumologists and chest surgeons ... ."
