Autoren-Porträt von Ira Greenberg
With a very mixed background combining elements of painting and programming, Ira Greenberg has been a painter, 2D and 3D animator, print designer, web and interactive designer/developer, programmer, art director, creative director, art professor and now author.Having worked with numerous fortune 500 clients, gallery directors, and respectable academic institutions, Ira has steadily exhibited his work, consulted within industry, and lectured widely throughout his career. He was a managing director for H2O Associates in NYC's Silicon Alley, where he helped build a new media division during the golden days of dot com mania-barely parachuting to safety into the ivory tower.
Since then he has been inciting students to create inspirational new media art at numerous institutions, including Seton Hall University, Studio Art Centers International (SACI), Digital Art Institute, Lafayette College, and currently at Miami University, where he has a joint appointment within the School of Fine Arts and the Center for Interactive Media Studies. During the last few years Ira has been torturing defenseless art students with trigonometry, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, and is excited to spread this passion to the rest of the world. He holds a BFA from Cornell University and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ira lives in Oxford, Ohio with his wife Robin, son Ian, daughter Mei-Mei, and their "squirrel obsessed" dog Heidi.

Rezension zu „Processing “
From the reviews:"Processing is a didactic that is based on the idea that programming can be learned very easily through the creation of screen art. ... The main goal is to educate designers and artists ... . the book in combination with the programming environment also presents an excellent implementation of the concept. I recommend this work for anybody who wants to explore programming in a different way, or for a teacher who wants to get inspired for his or her own programming class." (Gerald Friedland, ACM Computing Reviews, October, 2008)"The book is intended as an introduction to programming for designers and artists using the Processing language and environment, a language designed 'by artists for artists' and available as open source. It contains 13 chapters, and begins with a relatively gentle introduction to Processing. It continues with chapters focusing on imaging, animation, and three-dimensional (3D) graphics." (Jeffrey Putnam, ACM Computing Reviews, Vol. 49 (8), August, 2008)
