Luke Nguyen kam 1978 zur Welt, kurz nachdem seine Familie aus Vietnam geflohen war. Nach einem Jahr im thailändischen Flüchtlingslager wanderten sie nach Australien aus. Seit 2002 betreibt Luke Nguyen in Sydney das mehrfach ausgezeichnete Red Lantern. Er hat einige kulinarische Reportagen über die vietnamesische Küche gedreht und gründete 2009 gemeinsam mit seiner Lebensgefährtin Suzanna Boyd die Little Lantern Foundation, die benachteiligten Jugendlichen aus Vietnam Praktika vermittelt.Mark Jensen betreibt zusammen mit Luke Nguyen das Restaurant 'Red Lantern' in Sydney.
