2001-2011, Associate Professor in the same department between 2011- 2021 and has been Full Professor in the same department since 2021/8. Since 2001, he has been supervisor and co-supervisor of several M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis. He is co-author of more than 650 articles in national and international journals and conferences and co-editor of more than 55 international books and guest-editor of several special issues of international journals. Also, he has been evolved in several research projects, both as researcher and as scientific coordinator. He has been co-chairman of various international conferences and of numerous mini-symposia, workshops, and thematic sessions, and a member of organizing and scientific committees of several national and international conferences. He has been a member of several national and international journal editorial boards and editor-in-chief of the T&F journal "Computer Methodsin Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization,," Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization" published by Taylor & Francis and Co-editor of the Springer book series "Lecture Notes in Computational Vision and Biomechanics." His main research areas include computational vision, medical imaging, biomechanics, scientific visualization, human-computer interaction, and new product development.

Dr. Valentina Emilia Balas is currently full Professor in the Department of Automatics and Applied Software at the Faculty of Engineering, "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, Romania. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is author of more than 250 research papers in refereed journals and international conferences. Her research interests are in intelligent systems,fuzzy control, soft computing, smart sensors, information fusion, modeling and simulation. She is the editor-in-chief to International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms (IJAIP) and to International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering (IJCSysE), member in editorial board member of several national and international journals and is the director of Intelligent Systems Research Center in Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad. She is a member of EUSFLAT, SIAM and a senior member IEEE, Member in TC -Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), member in TC - Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), member In TC - Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).
