This book defines the dilemmas related to the interface between legal regulations and planning practice in the spatial management system. Based on specific case studies, it gives examples of possible problems and ways of solving them. It applies to Poland's standard and the determinants of spatial policy in other countries. It provides the basis for a developed international discussion and concretely suggests specific actions at local, regional and national levels.
Maciej J. Nowak (born 1982) is Professor at the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Head of the Real Estate Department and Member of the Presidium Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning, Polish Academy of Sciences. He is Author of over 200 works in this field, including more than 30 monographs, Participant of several dozen grants and
Paulina Legutko-Kobus (born 1974) is Assistant Professor at the Department Public Policy at Warsaw School of Economics. Her research works are related to sustainable development, governance, participation and local development. She is an expert cooperating with local governments (e.g., Kielce, Mszczonów, Minsk Mazowiecki, Wiazowna, Pomiechówek, Bialystok, Olsztyn, Ostroleka, county Plock).
She is Member of the Presidium of the Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Member of the Polish Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
She has participated in numerous national and international projects among others: HORIZON 2020 "Welcoming Spaces - Investing in "Welcoming Spaces" in Europe: revitalizing shrinking areas by hosting non-EU migrants" (2020-2024), "European and Macroregional Territorial Monitoring Tool" (2018-2020), MPA 44 "Development of Urban Adaptation Plans for cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants in Poland" (2017-2019), "Implementation of the certification model for mentors in the subsector of ecoindustry" (EcoMentor) (2018) and CLIMCITIES "CLIMate change adaptation in small and medium size CITIES" (2017).
