This volume sheds new light on economic developments in several countries of Southeast Europe. The European Union and especially the eurozone continue to experience rhythms of fiscal crisis, as can most clearly be seen in the debt crisis in the South Periphery. Despite the fact that several measures and decisions have been taken to deal with the crisis (banking union, liquidity support from the European Central Bank), proposals to reform Europe's strategic policy in order to find a way out of the crisis have been put forward.
This book explores the respective roles that specific sectors, e.g. the agricultural sector, social capital, tax policies and labour immigration, can play in this regard. The importance of international economic relations (exports, imports, FDI, exchange rates) is analysed, in order to illustrate the nature of the economic developments and the major economic difficulties these countries face.
Autoren-Porträt
Anastasios Karasavvoglou is Professor in economics, Editor in chief of the "International Journal of Economic Sciences and Applied Research" and the President of the annual International Conference "The Economies of Balkan and Eastern Europe Countries in the changed world". He has published many books and papers regarding immigration, regional development and labour market. Zoran Arandelovic is a Professor of economics. He has published many books and research papers, and also edited a dozen books of conference proceedings concerning regional development and demography. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of NiS.
Srdan Marinkovic is a Professor of banking and finance at the University of NiS, Faculty of Economics. He was visiting fellow of Norwegian School of Economics (Norges Hadleshøyskole) and London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal Economic Themes. His research has been published in Managerial Finance as well as many ISI indexed journals.
Persefoni Polychronidou holds a PhD in Mathematics, has scientific interests in data analysis, in discrete transforms and realization of algorithms for fast processing data. She is assistant editor of the "International Journal of Economic Sciences and Applied Research" and has published several papers regarding empirical economic data.
