Rudolf Simek,geboren 1954 in Eisenstadt, war lange Jahre Dozent und Leiter der germanistischen Fachbibliothek in Wien, seit 1995 ist er als Professor für Ältere Germanistik an der Universität Bonn tätig. Seine Hauptforschungsbereiche sind religiöse und mystische Texte des Mittelalters, sowie der Glaube und die Kulte der Germanen.
