Klappentext zu „Theory and Design of Charged Particle Beams “
Although particle accelerators are the book's main thrust, it offers a broad synoptic description of beams which applies to a wide range of other devices such as low-energy focusing and transport systems and high-power microwave sources. The book develops material from first principles, basic equations and theorems in a systematic way, and discusses the underlying physics and validity of theoretical relationships, design formulas and scaling laws. Assumptions and approximations are clearly indicated. Theory and Design of Charged Particle Beams features a significant amount of recent work including image effects and the Boltzmann line charge density profiles in bunched beams.

Autoren-Porträt von Martin Reiser
Martin Reiser joined the University of Maryland as associate professor of Electrical Engineering and Physics. He has been a full professor there since 1970. He was co-founder of the University of Maryland's Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP). His research interests are in the space charge physics of intense beams, which is studied in scaled experiments with low energy electrons. Professor Reiser is the author of more than 300 research papers and served on numerous committees.Professor O'Shea received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Maryland. His early research was at University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory, in the Accelerator Technology Division and the APEX Free-Electron Laser Project, and later at the Duke University Free-Electron Laser Laboratory.
From 2001-2005 he was Director of the IREAP and played a major role in establishing the Maryland Nano Center. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Professor O'Shea's experimental and theoretical research is in the area of charged particle beam physics, technology, and applications.
