She is a former elementary school teacher and continues to research with elementary school teachers and students. She consults for school districts and Educators/administrators interested in LGBTQ+ inclusion and hosts a teacher book club. Her research interests include LGBTQ+-inclusion, queer pedagogy, children's literature, arts-based research/pedagogy, and working for equity and social justice with teachers.
